Edgar Wright always stood out to me and he was indeed the person who made me fully realize how underrated editing is. Editing is paradoxical, a movie with good editing has a nice pacing to it and good editing often goes unnoticed, compared to a movie with bad editing which is painfully noticeable with awkward cuts and pacing. Amazing editing however, every cut and pacing feels as if it was meticulously calculated, pure instinct and feeling is put into consideration. It is deep, meaningful and above all else fun to watch. Other great movies with amazing editing is 21 Jump Street and its sequel and Stephen Chow movies like Kung Fu Hustle, God of Cookery and Shaolin Soccer. They fully utilize cinematography and editing to tell funny slapstick jokes.

im in my 1st year of uni and im doing a double degree (social science and media) and this is really helpful for my media side of things as im doing introductory screen production and my short film pitch/proposal is due in... well, lets just say its totally not due in less than 5 days (vivre la procrastination hehe! I have adored this show since I was very little. I recently finally got to go to London and visit the museum at 221b Baker Street and do all the touristy stuff. I am now a film major nearly a decade older than when I first found this amazing show. Stumbling across this random video when looking for transition ideas for a short film I was thinking about writing. These two parts of my life in context with each other made me fall in love with this show all over again. I know this is an older vid, but thank you for this!

Interesting stuff. I counted out during the scenes and I think all of the cuts are on the "and"... 1 cut 2 and 3 and 4 cut etc.... If my theory is correct, it would explain at least while watching this, the pacing of the clips or the overall study kept the same pace. All of the cuts, all of the action, sound, expressions appears to land on the "and" again. I wonder how this affects the pacing and building / releasing tension? I would think to my uneducated self, that it is impossible to build and release thematic tension if everything consistently occurs with the same pace. Thoughts?
